Usually people will travel by road or by ferry. If you go by road, you can go via the Penang Bridge. A charge of RM7.00 is levied on all classes of cars using the bridge at the toll plaza in Prai on the mainland. No payment is required for the return trip form the island to the mainland. While, if you go by ferry, start from Butterworth, it is necessary to take the ferry to Penang Island. The ferry service is available around the clock for both passengers and vehicles. Fares for passengers and vehicle charges are collected at the Butterworth terminal but no payment is required from the Island to the mainland. But some people or maybe tourist will go through air and by rail.
